THE TEAM

  • George is a screenwriter and director, and the founder of POLYROCK FILMS.

    His award-winning film PAUL IS DEAD - a comic dramatisation of the Paul McCartney replacement conspiracy - gained cult status online, inspiring an overwhelming audience response which included volumes of fan art and even DIY Halloween costumes.

    In 2021, he founded POLYROCK and directed FREE SPIRITS, a 25-minute paranormal comedy film starring BAFTA-nominee Spencer Jones, which is currently being developed for TV.

    With over 50 music videos and live sessions to his credit, he became a member of BAFTA in 2023. His work has garnered numerous nominations and awards, including multiple Best Director, Best Comedy, and Audience Awards, including accolades from The Royal Television Society, BAFTA-qualifying festivals like LSFF and Aesthetica, as well as a long-list nomination for Best British Short Film at BIFA. His debut feature film, MAY-DAY! is currently in development.

  • Hugo is a producer whose previous works include SKIM FOR ENGLAND (Best Comedy, Copenhagen Film Festival), MAN SPIDER, starring Liz Kingsman and Harry Michell (Vimeo Staff Pick), and THE NICKY NACK, starring Olivier Award winner Alun Armstrong, which has screened at a number of BAFTA-qualifying festivals.

    His Location Manager work includes large-scale productions for BBC Studios, Netflix, and the BFI, including THE STRAYS, FEMME, STOPMOTION, THE CUT, MAGPIE,JINGLE BELL HEIST, HEARTSTOPPER, and MOSS & FREUD. Most recently, he was Senior Location Manager on BORGES & ME.

    Hugo was a key player in the production team behind BFI feature ALL MY FRIENDS HATE ME, written by Tom Palmer & Tom Stourton, for whom Hugo produced upcoming shorts GOLDENBOY and TRICKLE. For Polyrock Films, he produced FREE SPIRITS and THE NUN SLAYER.

  • Alongside his writing collaborations with George and Stuart on PAUL IS DEAD and FREE SPIRITS, Ben’s solo writer-director efforts include comedy shorts THE NUN SLAYER, starring Matthew Cottle and Ellie Nunn (numerous awards from BAFTA & Academy Award qualifying festivals) and DIRTY LITTLE RASCALS (Best Short Nominee at BIFF).

    Ben’s intimate, character-driven work often blends dark comedy and British realism.

    His next project, THE EASY WAY OUT, has secured BFI financing and will be entering production in 2025.

  • Stuart is a screenwriter from Cumbria whose narrative work is rooted in historical research, British cultural history, and the exploration of underrepresented dialects.

    Alongside PAUL IS DEAD and FREE SPIRITS, Stuart’s portfolio includes the BFI NETWORK gothic horror THE LEERIE (Cambridge Film Festival, LSFF, New Shoots), the medieval horror CORPSE ROAD (winner of Best Film, Director & Horror at Greenwich Film Festival), and LAY-BY.

    In 2023, he began developing the feature film THE NAVVIES, and in 2025 he will direct queer comedy short MEAT RAFFLE in association with the BFI.
